Exercise program for cancer paitients

Mindfulness

Mind-body approaches recognize the power of mind to affect healing. Clients who learn and use techniques based on mind-body dynamics often experience noticeable reduction in stress, improved capacity for relaxation, and greater resilience during (and beyond) their treatment. There are demonstrated benefits for clients who learn stress management techniques while undergoing treatment for cancer. Mind-body approaches include body/energy work and expressive arts, as well as other modalities, such as clinical hypnosis, meditation, and guided imagery — all of which promote healing.

QiGong

This is a precursor to Traditional Chinese Medicine which incorporates slow, coordinated movements with breathing, mind calming techniques to release the Qi energy force within the body to promote healing and balance. Through these techniques, the relaxation response is stimulated thereby promoting the lymph system.

The medical literature shows that those who take the Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster workshop have fewer complications, less anxiety, may use up to 50% less pain medication following surgery, and may leave the hospital sooner than expected. Lisa MacDonnell offers the workshop for our clients. This workshop was created by Peggy Huddleston.
