Our Cancer Philosophy

Our philosophy is that a holistic approach to health and wellness will afford you the very best chance at great outcomes.

We utilize evidence based best practice in integrative medicine – combining traditional medical care with supportive complementary care – taking advantage of the interrelated functions of the mind and the body as it affects health.

We know that this approach is successful for men and women regardless of type of cancer, our programs and services are open to all those affected by cancer, including caregivers and family. In addition, we ensure that financial limitations are not a barrier to our care.

The Board of Trustees supports being on the forefront of global cancer prevention by providing our expertise in therapeutic services and wellness education to the community at large, so that the Garden’s unique and remarkable environment will reach as many people as possible.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to optimize the quality of life for all those affected by cancer.

Our Dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

July 16, 2020

Since our founding in 2000, the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden has been dedicated to removing barriers to access to our cancer support services. In light of recent events, we now pledge to actively increase our understanding and actions as they relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and operations to more effectively serve the broader community. To ensure that we are accountable we will report our actions and initial results in our Annual Report.
