In this series, we begin by bringing careful attention to our body and our breathing. By bringing attention to our stillness (grounding) & breathing (expanding) we are practicing the mindset of calm, alert, and presence – which can often be challenging to access. Through this focus, we are more likely to experience a break from the excessive mental chatter of the thinking mind. This practice also helps us cultivate greater perspective and equanimity.
All the sessions will include brief information about the what/why/how of mindfulness meditation, guided meditation, silent meditation, simple breathing exercises (& alternatives to focusing on the breath) & ideas for incorporating mindfulness into your day between sessions. Poems and reading passages will be used to complement any particular theme of the sessions (i.e., noticing signs of spring, changing light, etc.). In addition, there will be time for questions or observations related to your experience of the practice. Each session can stand alone, appropriate for all levels.
Mondays, 1:00-2:00pm
