Have you been curious about the expressive arts-based programs offered at The Healing Garden? Perhaps you’ve been hesitant to register because you don’t consider yourself “an artist?” Luckily, the expressive arts have nothing to do with being an artist and everything to do with using our senses to explore ourselves, the world, and our relationships. We play with everything from visual arts to poetry to music to movement to storytelling and more.
These integrative, expansive practices can provide gateways to access sensations, thoughts, and feelings that aren’t always so easy to talk about. They bring us into mindful awareness and can help regulate our nervous systems.
Join Norie Mozzone, The Healing Garden’s Clinical Intern, for an exploration of expressive arts therapy. What is it and how can it support your health? We are offering this during December to provide some additional supports you can play with at home during the holiday season.
Open to clients, caregivers and bereaved members. Free program with optional donation. This program will meet on zoom.
Norie Mozzone, Clinical Intern
Norie is in her final year of pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Lesley University with a specialization in expressive arts therapies. Using a person-centered, holistic approach, Norie brings a blend of somatic practices, the arts, and mindfulness through the Buddhist tradition to cultivate awareness and expression of one’s inner landscape. Norie emphasizes a collaborative approach with a commitment to honoring everyone’s stories and offers an opportunity to recognize and build on their own resources and strengths. At her previous internship, Norie continued to learn how to show up in the present moment as she supported people living with dementia. Prior to this path, Norie spent 25 years in the non-profit sector in fundraising and program management. Norie is honored and grateful for her opportunity at The Healing Garden.
