About Robin Schoenthaler, MD

Dr. Schoenthaler is a board-certified radiation oncologist. She did all of her undergraduate work and medical school and training in California and then moved to Boston to work at Mass General in 1992. She spent 28 years with MGH and spent most of the last two decades at the MGH Department of Radiation Oncology at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA where she concentrated on treating women with breast and gynecologic cancers. Dr. Schoenthaler remains as the Director of Medical Education at Emerson Hospital and Chair of the Medical Education Committee and works with the Massachusetts Medical Society in this space as well. In addition, she is an award-winning essayist and story-telling with articles appearing in The Boston Globe, New England Journal, Business Insider, Readers’ Digest, etc; and last year won the Boston Moth GrandSlam Championship. Since March 2020 she has become a “Covid-translator,” with a weekly column on Covid reaching a national lay audience and she is doing an increasing amount of public speaking on the subject.

She is also the mother of two young adult men who both live locally and in her pandemic spare time has become a burgeoning chef, a better friend, a serious walker and an enthusiastic if rickety yogi.
