In this series, we begin by bringing alert attention to our body and our breathing. By bringing attention to our stillness (grounding) & breathing (expanding) we are practicing the mindset of calm, alert, and presence – which can often be challenging to access. Through this focus, we are more likely to experience a break from the excessive mental chatter of the thinking mind. This practice also helps us cultivate greater perspective and equanimity.
Each session will also have a specific component of focus – Session 1: Mindfulness & Silence, Session 2: Mindfulness & Respiration, Session 3: Mindfulness & Gratitude, Session 4: Mindfulness & Winter. All the sessions will include guided meditation, silent meditation, simple breathing exercises (& alternatives to focusing on the breath) & ideas for incorporating mindfulness into your day between sessions. Each session can stand alone – although coming to all of them would be a strong start to creating/continuing a regular meditation practice. These will be appropriate for all levels.
