This workshop is specifically designed for anyone who has ever found themselves saying “I am not creative.” Well-known author and speaker Brene Brown reminds us that the world is in dire need of innovation, but many of us suffer from negative art experiences in the past that led us to consider ourselves “uncreative.” I used to be one of these people until I hesitantly tried coloring in response to a meditation. I wasn’t making art, I was just making something and playing all the while! This powerful experience has led me to believe with my whole heart, mind, and soul that everyone has creativity within. Like a scared animal who has been long hiding in a dark cave, we each need to be invited out into the sunlight in order to awaken our own creative capabilities.
Group members will have the opportunity to: share art stories, explore the creative process as a way to grow self-compassion, experience mindfulness: the present moment in creative play, and hear words of poets, writers, and everyday ordinary people who embrace creative play.
All materials for creative explorations will be easily found around your house.
